Union Community Care is undertaking a renovation of the historic Groff Event Center building at 234 W. Orange Street, formerly a funeral home. The organization acquired the property in October 2023 for $4.275 million.
Initial plans called for the space to be used as administrative offices for the healthcare non-profit. However, in September 2024, Union Community Care purchased the third floor of 454 New Holland Avenue in Lancaster for $2.75 million to serve as its new administrative headquarters. This strategic move allows the 234 W. Orange Street facility to be exclusively used for clinical services .
Warfel Construction has been contracted to lead construction which primarily involves outfitting the space for healthcare services. KH Electric has also been contracted to assist with electrical work. A commercial building permit for interior alterations was issued in February 2025 with an estimated cost of $9,580,584. This was the highest estimated cost permit in all of Lancaster City in Q1 2025.
