This week, crews from SM Johns & Son Construction were on site rehabilitating Platform #2 at Lancaster’s Amtrak Station. Platform #2 is one of two platforms at the station that has been closed for an extended period during construction.

PennDOT’s rehabilitation of Amtrak’s Lancaster Station commenced work in November 2024 with an expected completion in 2026.

Wohlsen Construction Company has lead most of the construction, including the yet-to-be-completed pedestrian bridge, stairs on the North and South platforms, stormwater management piping, and the historic main station building. Wohlsen has also enlisted support from engineering firm, GFT (fka Gannett Fleming TranSystems).

Prior to 2024, a 250-space parking lot to the north of the station was paved which the planned pedestrian bridge will access once complete.
