Excavation is underway at 240 N. Plum St., the site of a multi-building campus on the border of Lancaster City’s Musser Park and East Side neighborhoods. Designed by Tippetts/Weaver Architects for Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning (CHS). Extensive is work is planned across the 3-acre site, including construction of new building on a current parking lot, renovation of the 5-story building at 3 Tobacco Ave, and renovation of a former warehouse at 241 N Plum St featuring 20 ft. ceilings.
The Lancaster campus for Catherine Hershey Schools is one of six total CHS schools planned in Pennsylvania, including two others in Lancaster County; Elizabethtown and New Danville. CHS announced a budget of $350M for building out all the schools and has since spent $15.5M to acquire multiple properties at the corner of North Plum and East Walnut streets comprising the campus.
